Fan/Project Engineer |
|
Position Summary and Description
TLT has long been recognized for its product excellence, reliability and
performance. Their Fan Blades are second to none and withstand the most
abusive environments. TLT is the only vendor in the US designing and
manufacturing variable pitch axial fans above 5,000HP and centrifugal fans
above 8,000HP, and are currently researching 20,000HP applications. Over the
years, the Company has grown conservatively, not to outpace its available
resources, but possibly leaving significant opportunities on the table.
Which brings us to this Fan/Project Engineering role that is critical to the
expected growth, heavily influenced by the company's ability to design custom
Fan solutions into production - no two applications are alike. This
individual will answer the questions: how do we bring about greater
operational efficiency and what ways can we improve upon our Fans
capabilities? These industrial size fans are used by energy companies who
need to meet EPA guidelines [clean air acts] and are interested in how to
lower their power usage in turning coal into usable energy. The key to these
large centrifugal/axial fans: an understanding of concepts like "mass flow"
and air pressure and understanding the unique structural and design challenges
created by rotating blades. The project engineering teams consists of a Fan
Engineer, Rotor/Drive train Engineer, Structural Engineer, Project Engineer
and layout Designers. This individual would ideally understand/have exposure
to rotor dynamics, drive trains and critical speeds. As specialty wind tunnel
applications for auto and aviation research, etc. is an adjunct, experience
with Turbines [fixed versus variable pitch] or variable pitch propellers would
be of interest given the exposure to mass flow and air pressure issues. The
same can be said about Pumps as Pump applications typically deal with fluid
flow and rotating equipment [concepts similar to a Fan].
About TLT Babcock
TLT is a worldwide industry leader in delivering custom solutions for air and
material handling demands to include heavy-duty, large and medium-duty axial
and centrifugal Fans and equipment for ash/material-handling applications. TLT
is currently the only company in the US making variable pitch axial
fans. TLT's real value can be found in a high level of reliable product
performance and durability in service [even in the most abusive environments],
a result of highly engineered equipment paired with precise quality controls
and manufacturing techniques. Their products are also manufactured to minimize
energy usage while maximizing online availability. Their primary markets are
utility power plants and heavy industrial manufacturing installations,
including cement plants, steel mills, pulp and paper mills, waste
incinerators, mining, and subway & tunnel applications.
