The University of
Akron is a state-assisted metropolitan university in northeast Ohio
with approximately 23,000 students. The University is currently executing
an ambitious plan of modernizing its physical campus to satisfy the
demands of the incoming student body and is also actively enhancing
its research activities commensurate with the level required for
Carnegie status. In 2003, The University of Akron was selected as
one of twelve Carnegie Cluster Leaders by the Carnegie Academy for
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and the American Association
of Higher Education.
