Maintenance of Qualifications

After having been placed with an employer, the student must prove himself (or herself) by satisfactory performance on the job during the work periods; and, in subsequent school periods, must maintain the qualifying grade point average of 2.3 or better. The student must also follow all of the procedures that are set forth in other portions of this handbook.

If the student fails to maintain the above standards, he or she may be placed on probation or dropped from the Cooperative Education Program.

A student will be placed on Co-op probation if he or she fails to turn in required paperwork for each co-op tour, and confer with a Coordinator as required. The student may also be placed on probation as a warning that performance is below the acceptable standards. A student placed on probation will be expected to show significant and early improvement.

A student may be dropped from the Program if he or she fails to improve after being placed on probation. If there is a significant drop in the student's academic or work performance he or she may be dropped from the Program without having been placed on probation.

A student who is dropped from the program may, in some cases, petition to become reinstated.
