Cooperative Engineering Education

Founded in 1914, The University of Akron Co-op Program offers students valuable, on-the-job experience at companies, industries and government agencies throughout the country. Students in all engineering disciplines are eligible to participate in the program upon completing five semesters of study. In most cases, they  alternate a semester of paid employment with a semester of study. Students gain at least one full year of work experience by the time they graduate. Last year, co-op participants earned between $1,400 and $2,600 per month, depending on the branch of engineering. About 80 percent of the eligible students participate in the co-op program.
